Right now I have a laptop, a Toshiba L505D-S5965 that this review fittingly calls "satisfyingly mediocre". Note that the review was written in 2009. Here's the specs:
Processor: 2.1GHz AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core
Memory: 3GB, DDR2 800 MHz
Hard drive: 250GB 5,400rpm
Chipset: AMD RS780
Graphics: ATI Mobility Radeon 3100
OS: Windows Vista Premium
And yes, I still have Vista. Through a combination of laziness and a tight hold on my wallet (mostly laziness by this point though), I have never gotten around to upgrading or replacing it with Linux.
I shouldn't have much trouble running Pokemon NXT on my laptop, but this hunk of junk can't even handle some of Unity's tutorials at a decent framerate! I'm finally going to replace it, though. I've been mapping a desktop out since I started attending college, and now that I've finished paying for my car, I want to build this thing. I'll admit that it's not going to cost quite as much as my car, but I still want to build something I'm proud of, that can handle both games and 3D modeling at a feasible level. Aside from some additional fans, I've pretty much settled on everything from the CPU to the keyboard. Here's the parts list: pcpartpicker.com/p/3mnfF
Does anybody have any suggestions that might improve it? Keep in mind that I want to add another GPU with CrossFire and another 8 GB of RAM when I get some more money.
Also, I'm curious about the hardware some of you folks are running. Post it here, let's admire our tools of the trade!
